Describe Your High School Experience

Why I need to turn into a Nurse Being a Nurse is substantially more than simply difficult work, basic reasoning abilities, proof based practice, and sparing lives. It is a science just as a craftsmanship and one must be a mindful individual to be a really incredible medical caretaker. To be a Nurse, one must be devoted to helping other people and thinking about others all things considered. I groups those characteristics that makes an extraordinary medical caretaker and that is the reason I need to be a Nurse. Experiencing childhood in Jamaica, I was continually dealing with others; from my grandparents to my nearby neighbors.I consistently delighted in helping them and they never at any point needed to ask in light of the fact that I was consistently there. We didn’t have a lot of access to medicinal services in Jamaica so anybody in the local that was in the social insurance field was frequently gazed upward to for exhortation and help. My mom was one of those individuals; s he was a Nurse and everybody in the area respected her, including me. I realized that when I grew up I needed to turn out to be much the same as her. At the point when my mom would return home from work with accounts of how she helped spared someone’s life, I would get increasingly energized and energetic for the days when I can do the same. When I came to America, the principal thing I needed to know was the means by which and where would i be able to go to turn into a Nurse. Presently I am a Licensed Practical Nurse for a long time and now I am monetarily, inwardly, and genuinely prepared to encourage my instruction to be a Registered Nurse. If strangers meet life begins

If strangers meet life begins I. Flying back home to MIT from home in South Bend (not a typo), I had a perfect view of Cambridge and Boston out my window. The plane was flying east as I stared north at the city I now call home, and the Charles River and the bay glittered like uncut gems in the light. It took me but a moment to notice the Green Building, standing taller than any other building in Cambridge, marking claiming MITs place in the vast cityscape, drawing my eyes like a beacon. And in that moment MIT unfolded for me, as I saw the entire campus, from west to east, east to west, and all the other bits and pieces of buildings strewn throughout Boston and Cambridge. It was so beautiful I didnt want the plane to land. II. Almost precisely a year ago, when I was but a newly arrived freshman on MITs campus, one of the speakers during my Orientation challenged my classmates and me to meet at least five new people each day of Orientation. But he didnt mean just say hi to five people and try to remember their names when you ran into them randomly in the Infinite or before your 18.02 test three weeks later. No, he meant get to know them where they lived, what they wanted to study, what they liked to do for fun. What made them tick. What made them unique. Tall order? Maybe. But if you just try, think youd be surprised by what happens. III. As I write this entry, I can see MIT perfectly outside the window of my fraternity. Dorm Row and the twin domes, Mass Ave and the bridge, the boathouse and the Green Building the same buildings I saw from the air. The view is still mind-blowingly beautiful. But its not the same. Is everything just a matter of perspective? IV. As my friends know, Im a pretty big fan of the University of Notre Dame, which is located in South Bend and in whose laboratories I first discovered my passion for biomedical research. Unsurprisingly, every now and then I wear a Notre Dame hat around campus and I was wearing one on my flight back to Boston. So I wasnt too surprised when, just as I was settling into my seat, the person in the seat next to me nudged his wife and said, He must go to Notre Dame. At the time, I had been in the middle of a great book How Doctors Think, by Dr. Gerome Groopman, himself a Bostonian and was burning to return to it and continue reading. But instead I smiled, and explained I was from South Bend, but actually I went to MIT. And the man said, Ahh, and I asked him, in return, why he was headed to Boston and so I found myself drawn into a conversation that lasted for a good fifteen minutes, that meandered from my interest in bioengineering and biomedicine to his passion for electronics, from his exploits helping unlock the (original) iPhone to my dream of using computer technology to advance biomedicine even farther than it has already gone. We got on the plane as complete strangers. And though we never spoke again after that original conversation, I left the plane feeilng as though I knew him, even if it had been only for a moment. V. I met lots of people during Orientation, but I didnt really get to know most of them. Looking back, I wish I had put a little more effort into it. Dont get me wrong: Ive met more than enough people, found more than enough friends, to keep me happy. But Orientation is one of the few times everyone is trying to meet people. And you should take advantage of that. So get out of your room. Close those books, stop checking Facebook, take a break from studying for those advanced standing exams. Go out and meet people. Check out the dorms, each with its own culture and quirks, its own habits and tradition (almost as if each dorm is, itself, a person or at least a personality). Explore. Laugh. Live. Find friends to last a lifetime. Or at least four years.

The Implications of Water Pollution - 1513 Words

The Consequences of Water Pollution Annually, 90 million people add to the current population of 6.5 billion. At this rate the global population will reach approximately 8.5 billion by 2025 (http://dieoff.org/page120.htm). As the global population grows exponentially, so does the demand for natural resources. Of all these natural resources, water, is the most vital for survival and expansion. Humans dependency on water will never go away, making it a key part to any civilizations future. It is used daily for purposes such as: drinking, washing, bathing, sustaining agriculture, acquiring energy, and transporting goods. All of which help sustain a societys stability. Each source of pollution correlates to one or more of the twelve processes through which past societies have undermined themselves by damaging their environment. Thus, water pollution is considered to be a contributor to a possible collapse. Industry is responsible for the majority of water pollution because its practices produce several contaminants. The combined industrial discharge of chemical wastes and byproducts pollute rivers, lakes, and oceans by producing organic and inorganic contaminants that enter groundwater and soil, which can compile at the bottom of oceans. Subsequently, industrial discharge significantly increases the acidity of water. Heavy metals toxicity combined with increases in acidity yields water that cannot sustain life that it once could. The Consequences Of The Abortion Pill - 1160 Words

I think there should be a way out of your mistakes if you want there to be. I don’t think facing the consequences for your actions is always the best thing to do. A lot of people will argue that a baby isn’t a mistake but it is a miracle from god or just a miracle. I agree that babies are beautiful gifts. I also believe there’s a wrong and right time to have a baby. Even though your child was a surprise or an accident and everything for you turned out fine, that’s not always the case for others. Since 1973 1,500,000 babies have been aborted each year. There are two kinds of abortions. One is an actual in-clinic abortion where the doctors will physically remove the fetus themselves and the other is an abortion pill. The abortion pill†¦show more content†¦So many people argue that it in fact is not her body but it is the baby s body. I see where both sides are coming from. Although it’s another body inside another I still personally feel itâ €™s a woman’s right to terminate her pregnancy for it’s her body and her right to as she pleases to it. It’s an empowering right for a woman to have full and complete control over her and her own body. More importantly a woman should have the right to terminate her pregnancy due to the fact of the possibility that that child was conceived through rape or incest. A woman should never have to give birth or raise a child that was forced upon her. Abortions had by victims of rape only account for .5% of the United States’ abortions. Although the percentage of abortions that happen because of rape victims is very slim it still should be an option to all women who may ever need this. Carrying the child of a man who forced sexual intercourse upon a woman could be very emotionally detrimental to her mental health. Depending on how the woman feels about it she should have right to make that choice for her own sake. Furthermore, a woman who is carrying a child with a major disability should have every right to determine whether she wants to carry this child full term or to terminate the pregnancy. Raising a kid that would barely ever be able to function in life is a very challenging, 24 hour 7 days a week, task. Who knows what the outcome would be anyway. Careers in Clinical and Counseling Free Essays

My grim determination to pursue a career in psychology has been a lifelong dream. Since I was in my teens, I have always been interested in how a human brain works. In fact, observing human behavior was my favorite pastime. We will write a custom essay sample on Careers in Clinical and Counseling or any similar topic only for you Order Now I remember rather well how I would observe other people and compare their reactions to identical stimuli and then asked myself why? For instance, why did Mrs. A spank her 8-year-old son when she caught him lying, and Mrs. B did not? Since I saw that both Mrs. A and Mrs. B were very angry at their sons for lying, why the difference in their reactions? In such situations, the reasons behind the behavior of people, why they acted the way they did, always fascinated me. Although I was not yet fully aware at the time, I believe that my preoccupation with people’s behavior resulted from my personal circumstances. I lost my father to alcohol addiction when I was only 12 years old. Perhaps, subconsciously, I might have even placed part of the blame on my mother because I could not recall her saying or doing anything to help my father overcome his addiction. I always wondered why she tolerated my dad’s alcohol habit while our neighbors would often be heard arguing and shouting at one another every time the husband would arrive home drunk. This led me to ask myself what made mom different from the wife next door. (Now that I know that my mom was what is now called a classic enabler, I am sure that her being one certainly supported, if not actually encouraged my dad in pursuing his alcohol habit. ) Later, I would always resort to asking myself the same question whenever I would observe variant behaviors from people in our locality. For instance, when I heard that another man was discovered to be an alcoholic or a drug addict, I would wonder if his children felt the way I and my siblings felt before. Growing up in a family which was rendered dysfunctional by an alcoholic father and later with a single mother who was struggling with four children had been difficult. Things never came easy, but through sheer, hard work, I succeeded in making something of myself. I know that I worked hard for it, but I could not help thinking that I had been lucky as well. I could not help thinking of other children of families rendered dysfunctional by some forms of addiction. This thought started my self awareness. I began asking myself what really motivated me and why I do the things I do. Finally, I realized that what I really wanted was to help troubled children coming out of dysfunctional families. I was convinced that children who experienced what I went through but who were not as lucky as I have been need all the help they can get. So I took every opportunity that would lead me to this path. I first worked as a case manager for a community health center. Then I managed a youth home for troubled girls sentenced to the program through Youth Services. After that I worked with the prevention unit of another community health center. The financial demands of bringing up two sons, however, forced me to redirect my attention to my own family’s financial needs, so I started a retail business that would enable me to provide for my two sons adequately. However, after seven years, my lifelong passion resurfaced. I realized that I simply cannot turn my back on those people who need help and counseling. I decided to go back to pursuing my passion by attending a counseling program to better equip me in my desire to help troubled people. But first, in 2006, I completed a certification program in hypnosis and acquired a credential for certified hypnotist because I am certain that the skill would prove helpful later. My ultimate objective is to acquire a master’s degree in psychology and have a career in counseling psychology. I am aware that a career in counseling psychology could be very physically exhausting, emotionally draining, and involves long hours of work. However, these drawbacks are certainly offset by its most significant advantage: self-fulfillment. I know that helping people through counseling psychology will be the only career that would fulfill my lifelong dream. Besides, I get to be my own boss once I enter private practice.
